I posted this in an art group on Facebook where someone asked if anyone could be an artist.
The answer – Yes, of course!
The only difference between you and the artists you admire is practice and dedication. Anyone can be an artist, they just have to put in the work.
These two artworks were created 14 years apart. The one on the left was my very first digital painting (done with a mouse…) and I was ridiculously proud of it (at the time). The one on the right is one of my favourite portraits in coloured pencil. The only real difference between the two (aside from medium), is a whole lot of work.
Learning to do anything well takes time, including art. So if you’re not improving as fast as you thought/hoped you would, don’t give up. Just keep working and you will get there!
I am by no means at the level I want to be, but I know that I’ve drastically improved from where I was – and I know that you can too!
Just. Keep. Going.
