Still experimenting with and loving mixed media right now! I thought I’d try painting a woman with a galaxy in her hair, or at least some kind of space scene.
I’ve really enjoyed using acrylics and coloured pencils together, although now I really want to try watercolours themselves (since they are what inspired me to use acrylics this way), and I may or may not have just ordered a set…
*looks completely innocent*
I know I’ve often said that we don’t work well together, but after seeing paintings like this, I really want to try them (yes, I know the artist used acrylics or gouache over the top, but the background was watercolour and looks amazing)! I love acrylics but the pigments just don’t cover the paper or blend with each other like watercolours can, since that’s what they were designed to do. The last time I tried them I used a very cheap set and really had no idea what I was doing. There weren’t too many tutorials showing you how to use them and YouTube didn’t exist at that time (it was a while ago…). But it’s much different today – so many tutorials and technique videos to help and inspire a newbie like me!
