First large watercolour painting! And by large I mean A3 (11.5×16.5 inches), my previous watercolours have been A4 (8.5×11.5 inches), or smaller. A3 is a really nice size to paint, lots of room for details as well as a background.

The only downside I found was trying to fit everything within my camera’s view as I painted! But, that’s a minor detail.

I also tried out some new Neptune brushes by Princeton. They’re beautiful synthetics and hold their shape along with lots of paint and water! I think I’ve found my new favourite brand for watercolours! I only have the rounds in 0, 6 and 12 so far. I used the size 6 for most of the fairy.

"Lily Fairy" Watercolour painting, A3

Calla lilies are one of my favourite flowers and we have a beautiful pink variety growing in our garden. I used one of them as reference for this painting.
